Disability and Inclusive Tennis.

Activeace is proud to be Nottingham's leading supporter of disability tennis coaching with several of our trained coaches providing sessions at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

It's not just tennis coaching however, our Education Manager, Michael Leake, works in and manages our links with schools, providing support in many facets, for pupils and staff, to help inclusion and an improving workflow. The best thing is to get in touch and ask him what he does.

Tennis Court Hire

The tennis courts at Activeace Arena are no longer managed by ourselves and therefore no public bookings are taken.

We do however take bookings for the West Park and Bridgford Park Courts, which are a 10 minute drive.

For children we use equipment appropriate to the stage of learning including a variety of court sizes, ball types and rackets, each designed to accelerate the learning process.

We administer the courts at both West Park on Loughborough Road and Bridgford Park on Bridgford Road, so you or your childs tennis lessons can be be very local.

Unlike those of many tennis clubs, our tennis lessons continue through the school holiday and are flexible enough to take on those who perhaps only want to engage in tennis activities through the school breaks.

Take a look at our current active programme of tennis lessons at Bridgford Park or give us a call to discuss your childs needs.

Mini Tennis Red is the first level of the program, Children are encouraged to play Mini Red Tennis from the ages of 5 to 7. The balls are larger and softer than the yellow balls most of us know and they travel considerably more slowly.

In the Mini Red sessions children will start to learn new techniques to develop their tennis skills but the emphasis is still on activity and having fun.

Mini Red Tennis is played on a ½ sized court;.

Mini Tennis Orange is the second level in the mini tennis structure. Children move on to Mini Orange when they are 8 years old and continue untill the season in which they are 10.

At this stage they will use:

  • 23-25 inch rackets
  • mini orange tennis balls which more bouncy than the mini red balls but still softer and slower than green balls or the more familiar yellow tennis balls)
  • The mini orange court that is ¾ the size of a full singles tennis court.

As children move up through the mini tennis structure their skills are constantly improving as the sessions get slightly more intense and they learn new techniques and strategies, however fun is still a huge priority.
